Rules of Shooting and General Information |

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
RULES OF SHOOTING1.) The archer’s leading foot, even when kneeling, i.e. bow held in left hand, left foot; bow held in right hand, right foot, must touch and not be forward of the shooting peg. 2.) At open shoots the number of persons shooting at any one butt must not exceed six. 3.) Foliage must NOT be cleared by any archer in order to make the shot easier. 4.) All arrows in the target area are scored, even those that bounce back. 5,) All arrows shot on course will have field or target points. NO BODKINS OR BROADHEADS. 6.) All members, under the age of 16, will be supervised by an adult, shooting member. All under 12s MUST shoot with a participating parent or guardian. 7) Members and visitors are allowed to shoot: Longbow, Flatbow, Hunting Tackle, Barebow, Bowhunter, and Primitive. No sighted bows are allowed. 8.) It is ILLEGAL TO POACH. HUNTING WITH A BOW IS BANNED IN THE UK. Please note: clubs have lost their grounds because of selfish members!
RISK ASSESSMENT AND GENERAL INFORMATION1.) The Company of Sixty woods belong to the Crown Estates and are situated in Woodlands Park, off the A244 between Oxshott Village and the M25 junction 9 2.) The speed limit for vehicles is 5 MPH. Do not exceed this. Please note: the track has many pot-holes and can be muddy and slippery. When parking always park to the right hand side of the track, which can also be very muddy, with holes etc. NEVER BLOCK ACCESS TO THE WOODS, IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. 3.) The gate from the road must be locked at all times, even during practice times. 4.) The woods are open to all full members seven days a week. 5.) All members MUST carry Club and NFAS cards when in the woods and produce them when requested, especially to Crown Estate personnel. Anyone without the respective cards is trespassing in charge of a dangerous weapon and will be reported to the police, either by the Crown Estates personnel or by any Company of Sixty member. All cars to have parking permit on show while in woods. 6.) You must not, under any circumstances, take anyone into the woods who is NOT a Company of Sixty member. Probationary and visitor membership cards can be purchased from the membership secretary. £5 per person for one month plus £15 to the NFAS. (Membership sec. Carol Edwards. 01932 865181). 7.) If you find target faces which need replacing, PLEASE do so, there are usually some in the club hut. If there are none, please let the target officer know. 8.) No dogs are allowed on the course. All dogs must be kept in the owner’s car while any shooting is being done. Anyone bringing a dog must keep it on a lead at all times and then only on the main track or by the club hut. Any mess must be removed by the owner! 9.) Please do not drop litter and collect any broken arrows/litter and throw them in the correct receptacle. 10.) There are many rare flowers in the woods. Please do not trample them, pick them or dig them up. 11.) No fires are allowed in the woods.
SAFETY RULES WHEN SHOOTING1.) Never shoot while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. 2.) Never shoot while tired. |
